The Kinks- Lola

Oh man, this song has special meaning for me. Midway through sophmore year of highschool I got into an argument with my parents, turned around to flip them off, and slashed my middle finger down to the bone on the edge of a mirror that wasn't framed for some reason. In the process of bleeding everywhere and me flipping out we somehow got me into the car and to the ER. On the way there Lola came on the radio and I started to sing along with it. When we got into the ER there was almost a 90 minute wait, one of the slower nights for the ER apparently. So I sat in the ER waiting room, bleeding everywhere and starting to become delirious and belting this song out. When they are finally able to get me into to see an ER doctor the orderlies and the doctors told me my injury was the funniest one they had seen all night, and that I had barely missed severing the tendon in my finger. So I ended up with 12 stitches in my finger, and a cast thing for my finger so I wouldn't move it and break the stitches. I ended up flipping everybody off that night, and for the next month due to that cast thing.

Anyways, here's the song to go with the story.

  1. Hahah, lovely story. I can only imagine the amount of time I'd have said "no I'm not flipping you off on purpose, it's the cast, honest!"

  11. It was indeed a slow ER, and I now have a C shaped scar on my middle finger. I got out of a lot of homework and writing stuff, as I'm left handed and the cast interfered with trying to write.
